NFL Predictions and Insights on Penn State, Miami, Notre Dame and 2026 NFL Draft

Don’t sleep on Carson Beck.   Some members of the media will question Beck’s ability after the 2024 season. His interceptions doubled, attempts increased, completion percentage dropped, attempts (9.5 to 7.8), and QB rating (167.9 to 145.3).

They fail to mention that in 2024, the University of Georgia had the most dropped passes with 31. It was the only team in the SEC to have three players with five or more drops.

Beck showed poise. That was a massive part of the success of the late drive for the game-winning field goal.    As the season progresses, it will be something to watch as his rapport grows with the young Hurricane wide receivers.     I think Beck ends up in the Heisman top 5 and a first-round pick in April.    Something has me thinking Beck and Pittsburgh.

For the Hurricanes’ wide receivers, did anyone else notice something? Malachi Toney looked a lot like Tyreek Hill.

If Beck lands in round one, remember the name Shannon Dawson.   Should have his pick of jobs if he wants the big seat.  Even make the jump to the NFL as an OC in 2026?

Notre Dame bounced back in the second half and should be fine the rest of the season.   Two players really jumped out to me as future NFL players.    Jordan Faison looked as if he was on a different speed than the rest of the field.   Love to see what a team like the Rams or San Francisco would do with him.

Also, Malachi Fields is going to be playing on Sundays and should be no later than a day two pick.   Fields size, strength, and athleticism make me hope he lands in Buffalo or New England.

Penn State appears to be a strong candidate to add a third consecutive National Title for the Big Ten. They have everyone back, including many future NFL players on that roster. They should gain from a relatively easy overall schedule.

I will be interested to see how they handle the pressure. If they win, will that finally make the alumni let go of the past, both the good and bad?

Will they enjoy the work Franklin is doing? If not, I am sure a particular school from Tuscaloosa would welcome a National Champion head coach. This will happen if Alabama continues to struggle. They will pay whatever it takes to bring him back to the SEC.

Predictions that are sure to go wrong, but maybe not …

Shedeur Sanders will land on the Cowboys at some point in the next few seasons.  Jerry will see jersey sales and won’t be able to resist. He will work his way out of Cleveland. We all know the 3rd spot in the QB room will not sit well.

After the New Yankees lose in the playoffs, Joe Maddon replaces Aaron Boone.   Need a new voice in the dugout that commands respect.

Nick Saban returns to the NFL sidelines in 2026 to a marquee franchise.  Maybe he joins a team that struggles to get over the playoff hump. The team needs to go from a Del Harris-level head coach to a Phil Jackson-level head coach.     Any ideas?

Bill Belichick’s son will be his undoing at North Carolina.   Just because they are your kids doesn’t mean they can coach.    I bet he is gone in two years.
